Christians Are Salt 'n Light - What Does That Mean?

In tha south, it's all 'bout food. Mamma loves ta cook for people. She wants 'em ta have somethin' good ta eat. It takes tha right amount of spices 'n ingredients for tha flavor. Salt enhances how food tastes, 'n only slows decay if it stays pure.

Christians are salt 'n light accordin' ta tha scripture:

Matthew 5:13  You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men.

Just as salt changes the way food tastes, Christians are to live their life as an example to enhance 'n change others lives. If you lose your 'salt', it's no good ta help others anymore.

Matthew 5:14-15  You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house.

With Jesus in your life, you can be a light for others to see Him. Don't keep your light hidden, keep it out in tha open for all ta see.

Matthew 5:16  Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.

As a lighthouse is to ships at sea, a Christian is ta be a beacon of light showin' others tha way ta Christ.

Things ta Think 'Bout:

1. How bright is your light shinin'?

2. What kind of flavor is your life ta others?

Lord, help us ta be tha kind of shinin' light we need ta be. Give us what we need ta be salt ta others. In tha name of Jesus, amen.

  1. Salt adds seasoning to our foods and preserves them. God adds seasoning to our lives, and preserves us. Thanks for the reminder. ~Nita
