How Ta' Guard Your Heart

I remember one time when Merlene stole some money from a friend in her Sunday School class. Tha' girl laid two dollars on top of her Bible. When she came back ta' her seat, her money was gone. Now, Merlene knew better, 'n it didn't take long for her heart ta' get heavy. All week she felt guilty! She took tha' two dollars back tha' next Sunday. Have ya' ever done somethin' ya' knew was wrong?

What's in your heart determines tha' direction of your life.
Your heart must always be open ta' God's teachin's. Turn away from tha' ways of tha flesh 'n walk in God's ways. It doesn't mean that your perfect. As your heart grows closer ta' God, 'n when ya' do somethin' wrong, ya' know it right away. Your heart is sensitive ta' tha' Holy Spirit.

Just like Merlene's heart. She knew she had done wrong, 'n she wanted ta' make it right.

Proverbs 4:23 Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life.

Tha' best way ta' guard your heart is ta' stay in God's word! The world can make your heart hard. It can't offer what God can.

Why should ya' guard your heart? So your life stays on tha' right path. Tha' path that God has for ya'.

Things Ta Think 'Bout:

1. What's in your heart? Things of tha' world or things of God?

2. Is God's word hidden in your heart?

Lord, open our hearts so ya' can teach us what we need ta' know. If anyone's heart is hardened, I pray that you softn' that heart. Give us Godly wisdom ta' have hearts sensitive ta' your will. Thank ya' Lord. In tha' name of Jesus, amen.

  1. If we haven't done something we knew was wrong, we've probably said something.
