Kindness - Is It Lost?

Have we gotten so busy bein' caught up in our own world that we don’t take time to be kind anymore? One of the first Bible verses I learned when I was a little girl was, "Be ye kind to one another"....

Me 'n my sister learned a lot from Mamma 'n Daddy 'bout bein' kind. When a neigbor was sick, Mamma'd take 'em homemade soup. She'd write cards to people in the church who couldn't come to church. Her smile always showed kind. Daddy worked in seed 'n feed. He did a lot of business with farmers 'n sometimes they couldn't pay him right away. So, Daddy told 'em to pay when they could. They were always helpin' others. I remember my college roommate, Sally Mae, came to live with 'em for awhile. They helped her get a job. She was like another daughter.

It seems likely that if you give kindness, you're gonna get kindness back. Kindness can soothe over an argument; turn a disagreement into an understandin'; make a difference in how you live everyday not only for others, but for yourself.

Here are some quotes I want to share with you on kindness:

Kind words can be short and easy to speak, but their echoes are truly endless. - Mother Teresa

No act of kindness, however small, is ever wasted. - Aesop

You cannot do a kindness too soon because you never know how soon it will be too late. - Ralph Waldo Emerson

I choose kindness...I will be kind to the poor, for they are alone. Kind to the rich, for they are afraid. And kind to the unkind, for such is how God haws treated me. - Max Lucado

Love and kindness are never wasted. They always make a difference. They bless the one who receives them, and they bless you, the giver. - Barbara DeAngelis

I expect to pass through life but once. If therefore, there be any kindness I can show, or any good thing I can do to any fellow being, let me do it now, and not defer or neglect it, as I shall not pass this way again. - William Penn

So next time I'm in a grocery store check out line, 'n somebody behind me has only a few items as opposed to my buggy, I'm gonna let them go before me. If one of my customers needs help 'n there's somethin' I can do, I'll do it. I might need their help one day.

Bein' kind can also be a smile or a kind word to somebody. Kindness may be just what the world needs more of.

Leave me a comment 'n let me know your thoughts - is kindess lost?

And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.  Ephesians 4:32

King James Version (KJV)

Lord, may we spread more kindness every day. In the name of Jesus, amen.

Things To Think 'Bout:

1. Have you lost your kindness?

2. Ask God ways you can show kindness.

  1. I believe society has lost its taste for kindness. Most people are so frazzled trying to make ends meet that they don't feel they have time to be kind, but they do crave it and appreciate it when it is shown to them. It's sad that we live in a world were neighbors don't help each other. We don't even expect it anymore. I was shocked when I received a call from a church member asking how I was the day I had to walk out of service because I was sick. In all the years of going to church, I had never had that happen before.
