The Lost Christmas Tree Star
The star that tops our Christmas tree every year has been in
my family as long as I can remember. It's
my favorite ornament, although I don't know why. Maybe it's because it
has so many points, or maybe it’s how the light shines through it. All I know is that every time I look at it, I
have this warm, peaceful feelin'. It's like God lettin' me know that He's with
me no matter what happens.
One year we opened the Christmas star box ‘n it was gone. I
panicked actin’ like a three year old child havin’ a temper tantrum. “Where is
it!? We can’t have a Christmas tree without this star!” Mamma, my sister, ‘n I
looked everywhere! The star could not be found.
We trimmed the tree with everythin’ except for the
star. As I sat lookin’ at the tree all
lit up, I prayed, “Lord help me know where the star is. Christmas just isn’t
right without the star on top of the tree.
We’ve looked everywhere Lord, please help me find it. In the name of Jesus,
amen.”
It wasn’t long ‘n I felt this urgency to look in the box of
Christmas things again. I started
pullin’ out torn garland, Christmas lights that were burned out, ‘n broken
ornaments. Then I saw a box in the very
bottom. We had missed it lookin’ for the
star before. It wasn’t the box for the
star so we didn’t bother to check it.
I opened up the box ‘n there it was! The Christmas Tree Star!
I fell to my knees, “Thank you Lord!” We had gottin’ in such a rush tryin’ to
find it that we completely overlooked it.
It’s so wonderful to know that God watches over us!
Psalm 121:7-8
The
Lord will keep you from all harm - He will watch over your life; the Lord will
watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.
Lord, thank you for watchin' over us even when we don't realize it. In the name of Jesus, amen.
Things To Think 'bout:
1. Have you ever lost somethin' that meant a lot to you?
2. Do you take everythin' to God?
Don't let the 'business' of Christmas take away its real meanin'!
I've lost many things that meant a great deal to me at the time, but afterward I realized that I could do without them. The memories were what I treasured most anyway.
