November's Bein' Thankful Series:
Not Just Any Ole Tree
Growin’ up I remember this big oak
tree in our back yard. My sister 'n I
loved to play under it in the summer, cause it gave a lot a shade. When a storm came up, we’d run to the house ‘n
watch the old tree from the window. The
wind would shake the limbs ‘n blow the leaves. We were afraid that the wind
would blow the tree over.
Mamma would reassure us that the
tree could stand up to the fierce gusts.
She said, “Oak trees have what’s called a long, deep taproot that goes
way down in the dirt. It soaks up water 'n food as it grows more 'n more roots.
The roots keep the tree standin’ strong.
Just like the oak tree has deep roots, our faith needs to be deeply
rooted in God. Instead of water ‘n food,
our faith grows by studyin’ the Bible, prayin’, ‘n trustin’ God evenin’ in the
hard times.”
John4:14
…”but whoever drinks of the water that I
shall give him will become in him a fountain a fountain of water springing up
into everlasting life.”
Thank you Lord that you are our almighty God. Help us to understand 'n want to know your word better. In the name of Jesus.
Things To Think 'bout:
1. Is your faith strong like the roots of the mighty oak tree?
2. Are you spending enough time in God's Word?
