Believin' 'n acceptin' Jesus as your savior means you become a new person! The old is gone 'n you take on a new look! Now, I'm not talkin' 'bout new clothes, new shoes, losin' weight. You have Christ livin' in your heart 'n it shows from tha inside out! Ya cain't help but feel different inside, because ya know that God is in control of your life. He's always with ya.
Colossians 3:5 Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry.
Paul was callin' tha Christians ta be forever in tha process of gettin' rid of evil desires in your old life. As a new person in Christ, ya do away with all those things.
Colossians 3:15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful.
True peace is God's peace that dwells in your heart. Be thankful for everythin'.
Colossians 3:16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
As a new person in Christ, ya want ta sing! Some sing better in tha shower, but it's okay - just sayin'. But that excited feelin' of joy ya want ta share with others. Fellowship with other Christians. Stay in tha word 'n meditate on it. Memorize scripture ta share with others who need ta hear 'bout God. Ya never know when God will present ya with those opportunities - so be ready.
Colossians 3:17 And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.
Things ta think 'bout:
1. Are ya a new person in Christ?
2. How have ya changed from your old life?
Lord, give us strength ta do what's right as a new person in You. Give us true peace. May we reach out ta others who need ta know of your truth. In tha name of Jesus, amen.
