Founder’s Day Lemonade Stand
I remember wantin’ a
pair of Dale Evans’ cowgirl boots. I
didn’t have tha’ money ‘n Mamma ‘n Daddy didn’t either. I prayed that if it was alright with God for
me ta’ get tha' boots, ta’ help me find a way ta’ get ‘em.
A few days afterwards, Uncle Buford, a truck
driver who traveled ta’ Florida a lot, brought us two crates of lemons ‘n 25
lbs. of sugar. He asked if we could use ‘em. Mamma suggested
I set up a stand 'n sell lemonade at our Founder’s Day celebration. It might be a good way
ta' raise money for my boots. Hundreds of
people came from all tha’ surroundin’ counties like Hog Waller, Muddy Creek, ‘n
Slippery Holler.
Mamma helped me set
up a lemonade stand. She made a sign,
"Lemonade 5 cents a cup". Then I helped Mamma make some
lemonade. We squeezed tha’ lemons inta’ a juice strainer, then poured
tha’ juice inta’ a pitcher, ‘n then added tha’ right amount of water ‘n
sugar. We set tha’ pitcher of lemonade on tha’ table ‘n put some ice in a cooler. It took us all
day makin’ enough lemonade. I sold
$20.00 worth right off tha’ bat. By tha’ end of tha’ day, I had enough money ta' get a fringed vest and skirt ta' go with my cowgirl boots.
Mamma always
says,"Mitsy Lou put your trust ‘n faith in God, He’ll always give ya' good directions”.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him and He
shall direct your paths.
Proverbs
3:5-6
Things Ta' Think 'bout:
1. Do ya' trust God?
2. Have ya' ever prayed for somethin' ya' really wanted?
Lord, help us ta' be more trustin' of ya' in our day ta' day. Givin' ya' all tha' credit for all things. In tha' name of Jesus, amen.

I have indeed. Sometimes it works out where I get it and sometimes it doesn't.
