Mamma has the greenest thumb of
anybody I know. She just has that knack. One time, Aunt Elsie Huckleberry asked
her what her secret was. She said, "You gotta' love diggin' your hands in
the dirt to plant the seed, then you gotta' keep a check on it to make sure it
gets the right amount of water, food, 'n sunshine. It gives me such pleasure
watchin’ it grow! You gotta' have the right tools 'n knowledge so you know what
to do."
Mamma loves spring! That's when she
takes the flowers that's been in the basement all winter back outside. There
are flowers on the front porch, back porch, down the steps, 'n all along the
top of the wall goin' down the driveway. My thumb is not as green as Mamma's.
Flowers seem to die no matter what I do. I can take 'em to Mamma 'n like magic,
they come back to life again’.
Spring represents new life, new
growth. Mamma says that as Christians, we need to plant our roots in God. He
will give us nourishment 'n knowledge to grow in our faith.
Psalm 1:3 He shall be like a tree planted by the
rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also
shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper.
Lord, thank you for makin' us new again. In the name of Jesus, amen.
Things To Think 'Bout:
1. Do you feel new in Christ?
2. When was the last time you dug your hands into the dirt?
Happy Spring!
