Mamma said that she prayed for Daddy every day that God would keep him safe. Back then they didn’t have computers, skype, or cell phones. Mamma’s heart was troubled cause she didn’t know from day to day what was happin’. She ‘n Daddy shared great faith in God. They trusted Him ‘n knew that if it was His will, they would be together again.
I was lookin’ through her scrapbook ‘n found what she wrote ‘bout their separation by the war. It shows how great her faith in God was:
Our first anniversary was spent apart, but with high hopes ‘n prayers ‘n a Faith that is unshaken . That it bein’ God’s will we hoped to be together all the rest. J.E. bein’ in England at this time sent a lovin’ letter that made us feel very much together even though the miles were many. He stated that though there were many miles between us that nothin’ could blemish the true love our hearts know.
Yes, many anxious hours were ‘n is bein’ spent durin’ his stay over seas, but always with high hopes for what we both hoped “our near future”. With all the wonderful memories of all the happy hours spent together, we thank God for it was He who made it possible for all our happiness.
After three years, Daddy came home. Durin’ more than fifty years of marriage, their faith in God grew stronger through many trials ‘n triumphs.
John 14:1 “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me.”
Lord, thank you for keepin' us safe in your love. Help us to always remember that our hearts don't ever have to be troubled 'cause you're with us. In the name of Jesus, amen.

I kind of feel that way about my dd being away. She won't be able to come home for Thanksgiving this year. But I know God is growing her for His purpose in Seminary.
